H&M poncho. Zara shoes & bag. Urban Outfitters hat. Jan Michaels & Forever 21 rings
Why yes, I very much enjoy wearing blankets with sleeves.
Kept it easy, breezy in this lightweight nude-color poncho that I recently picked up at H&M. Perfect for when you have less than 10 min. to get ready and need to look somewhat pulled together, ponchos have climbed the ranks on my shopping radar. Just remember not to raise your arms too high if you neglect to wear shorts; folks will get a nice side view of your ass.
Other ways to style this oversized piece of material:
- belt it and add leggings with ankle boots
- do the half-tuck and pair with denim cutoffs and combat boots
- add denim vest, skinny jeans and open-toe booties

And in other completely unrelated news, I love funny men.

Summer Lovin’
photos via scissors, need supply, minkpink
“Summer is the time when one sheds one’s tensions with one’s clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all’s right with the world.” – Ada Louise Huxtable
Hope these photos get you into the summer spirit. I’m behind on life, but will get back to you all this weekend.

“Strangers are exciting, their mystery never ends, but there’s nothing like seeing your history in the faces of your friends.” ~ Ani DiFranco
It’s always bittersweet to visit home. Knowing you only have several days to spend with the ones you love, the ones that you hold closest to your heart, you try to make the most out of your time but it always ends up whizzing by.
Reunions with high school friends; gatherings with new friends; gambling in Atlantic City and not losing money; talking to R. Kardashian on our eastcoast bound flight; trips to NYC, Maryland and Pennsylvania; paddle boating in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor; bashing Sex and The City 2 while Chris Noth is sitting beside us (noticed this afterwards); getting my Dunkin’ Donuts fix (there are none in LA); visiting my dear 99-year old grams who asked me to put hair spray on her ‘do (love it); brainstorming screenplay ideas and getting renewed inspiration from being home; and just spending quality time with the people who know me best.
Had the opportunity to meet up with some amazing and talented bloggers who are just as sweet in person as they are online. Mel & I brunched with James (The Mod Revival), Shaun (Port Authority, LA), Christine (N’East Style) and Gabe (The History of My World), and afterwards headed to the Brooklyn Flea Market — a recommended spot if you’re in the area on the weekends.
Mel and I also met up with Jillian from Nova Style who I adore and have been following since my early blogging days. Through these blogger meet-ups, though we may not all know each other in the tangible sense, I felt as if we did have a history upon meeting, albeit a short one, that I hope continues to grow.

Luckily I also caught this while I was away. I was excited to learn I had been chosen as Weardrobe Spotlight Blogger of the Day on Saturday. Thanks so much, Weardrobe!

Wishing you a great rest of the week!

While I was away on my east coast vacay, I was excited to learn that Style with Benefits had been selected for this past week’s IFB Links à la Mode. Thanks again to my friend Dan who compiled the stylish Father’s Day Gift Guide.

You, Only Better

It’s a strange culture we live in: we’re always told Just be yourself!, yet the bestseller list is chock-full of self-help books and memoirs depicting radical change. Finding the balance between total transformation and chilling in our pajamas is difficult, but that’s why I love the blogosphere. Here, inspiration is served up one manageable bite at a time. Want to save the world? Start with vintage beachwear – the purchase benefits disaster victims. Hoping your man evolves into a sharp-dressed diaper-changer? Let’s begin with a chic- and sustainable- Dad’s day gift. Looking for your dream job? Take baby steps by revamping your work wardrobe and taking notes from inspiring entrepreneurs.
