Peep Show

These are some choice peep-toe booties that are at the higher end of the $ rainbow.  Love the surprise side cut-outs of the Tashkent by Cheyenne J. Colette Perforated Tie Back Booties ($575), as well as the tie at the top.  The perforated leather texture makes it stand out from other booties.  Though not new to the scene, I still had to include the always popular Givenchy Cut Out Bootie ($765).  For a cheaper version, the Pelle Moda Kammi Open Toe Cutout Bootie ($209) still gives you the same idea with cutouts throughout.

These lookers are available at much more affordable prices.  The Anastassia Leather Lace Up Bootie ($189) via Bebe features a woven leather and ankle wrap, with stitching detail down the side.  OTOH, these suckers also have 5″ heels.  I can barely walk in 4″ comfortably, so I’d probably break my ankle in these.   I REALLY want the Steve by Steve Madden Peep-toe Ruffle Bootie ($179).   Yes, they’re on the more classic side, but again, with my slight obsession with ruffles, I must have these.   Lastly, the Vince Camuto ‘Magena’ Bootie features a great fold-over, which covers half the 3.5″ heel.  These are on sale for $89, down from $149 via Nordstrom.

Head-Gear

I confess. I used to wear that awful head-gear. Yes, if a mental image of Joan Cusack in Sixteen Candles popped up, then ding, that was me. If you saw what I was working with back in elementary school, you’d understand the need for braces, rubber bands (on my braces) and the terrible head-gear (only at night).

But I digress. I’m talking about the head-gear that’s in style today. The kind that you actually want to wear. I’m a fan of dressing up the head every now and then, esp. because I’m so uber low maintenance with my daily hairstyle. Even though my hair is long, I never brush it (except when I get this huge nasty knot in the back) or use a blow dryer. Hence, head-gear is a great accessory for me, esp. when I want to look acceptable with not-so fresh hair.

If I had the funds, I’d definitely get Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 headpieces. The Gold Bead Five Strand Head Piece (first pic) is a steal at $170, compared to the Gold Seven Strand Headband at $395.  It’s a gorg piece, but I’d rather get a handbag over a headband for that cost.  The most I’ve spent on a hair accessory is $100 for my Stacey Lapidus single braided silk headband with crystals, which I love (pictured at top).

Currently on my radar is this Brass Arrows Headband from Free People ($38).  The Urban Oufitters Leaf Headband also caught my eye, and for $18, I’ll probably purchase this.  It comes in several colors, but I’m leaning toward the black for versatility.  The green has already sold out, so people are snatching these up.

In theory, I like this Gabriela Artigas Vintage Bow Headband ($86), but with my oily forehead, this dainty chain would probably not stay on the forehead for too long.  The Forever 21 twin flower headband is laughable alone; try putting a head between those flower earmuffs, and you’re bound to get some raised eyebrows wearing them in public.  Just say NO.

Rock My World

Love the Lily Kitty strapless dress with the tulip shape bottom.  I’d snap this up but they only have medium sizes left.  How cute is the Motel blue bustier dress with the off the shoulder ruffle straps?  I have two tops with similar off the shoulder straps that I haven’t worn in forever.. maybe it’s time to break those out again.

Cardigans are still a staple, but I’ve stopped buying them and have been making blazers (cropped and oversized) my go-to cover up.  This Something Else by Natalie Wood double breasted blazer has a great sheen to it and would be perfect to throw over a mini.  I love how you can fold the Maud legacy buckle boot down or leave them up.  Notice my love for multiple buckles?

Currently overplaying Sara Lov. Her song ‘New York’ was the last song played when Whit and Jay “broke up” again on this week’s The City.

Mmm Mmm Good

jeffrey-campbell-biz-belted-bootieLOVE. The Jeffrey Campbell Biz Belted Bootie is the ish.  I’m behind the curve on this one though since they’re sold out everywhere, with the apparent exception of this Long Beach store.  I’m sketched out from ordering them on the Web site because everytime I call the store, no one picks up.  Bummed, but not giving up on these belted wonders.
