Only for The Tonight Show With Jay Leno will I break out sequins for daytime wear. My lovely mom is in town visiting from the east coast which explains my brief absence from here. Always love showing out-of-town guests around because you get to pretend you’re a tourist for a few days. Also enjoy the satisfaction of showing things that you love to someone and witnessing them love those things equally as much. One of the best feelings!
While we spent most of yesterday enduring the chilly weather outside while waiting for the taping of The Tonight Show, it all paid off because we got to meet Jay Leno during the warm-up and take a photo with him! YES. Good thing that happened since it’s unlikely I’ll spend nearly four hours just waiting to go into an hour-long taping again!
Snapped these photos during happier times back in August when I had visited Coney Island for the very first time with my family. We experienced one of those idealistic summer days — the kind of day you keep in your inner arsenal and pull out when you need to go to your ‘happy place’.
From strolling on Steeplechase Pier and taking in the views to eating at Nathan’s and riding the historic NYC landmark, the Cyclone, it was a damn good day. Jeez. I’m lucky that I was able to create those special memories with my fam.
Fortunately, my family in NJ and NY are fine but there are many of my friends who are still without power or displaced from their homes. It’s a tragic situation and I’m praying for them. If you’ve been affected, know that we’re all grieving your pain and championing your resiliency. Stay strong.
It’s crazy to fathom how beautiful one part of the country can be while another is going through such devastation. This was my weekend — passing out in the sun on a quiet day at the beach. A kind of day you should never take for granted. I’m from New Jersey (grew up going to the Jersey Shore — yes, the Jersey Shore on TV) and went to school in Maryland, so a good majority of my loved ones have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Hang in there, east coast fam. Thinking about you all.
I fully blame Lawrence of Four-Pins for this purchase decision AND my undying love for Céline Dion. Because why pay for a knockoffCéline Paris inspired logo t-shirtwhen you can wear a completely original parody shirt to proclaim your love for both the Céline brand and only the greatest vocalist to ever grace our generation’s ears, hearts and souls?
Second to only Whitney’s I Will Always Love You, Céline’s The Power of Love was my song. I mean, she introduced me to the genre that is — love songs — and I’ve never been the same since. Yeah, when I wasn’t blasting Salt-n-Pepa’s Whatta Man and pretending I could rap like Salt (I liked her better than Pepa!), I was channeling Céline. Because after all, she made me believe in the power of love.
‘Cause I am your lady… And you are my man… Whenever you reach for me… I’ll do all that I can…
Since our winters in Los Angeles are mild, I usually resist the urge to buy a heavy coat every year. Because real talk, the cost per wear just doesn’t add up if I’m buying two or three winter coats per year. And after falling in love with this quilted contrast sleeve coat a few months ago, it now hangs in my closet. But dammit, Xiao Wen Ju, you make me want this green gem.
Believe this is a Stella McCartney coat though I can’t find this exact one online. A short version is available at Farfetch.com.
