Wide open spaces that lend themselves to an abundance of life reflections. Yesterday, Mel and I daytripped to Palm Springs for the Planet Blue X FOAM Magazine party at the Alcazar Hotel. One of those days that makes you grateful for the simple pleasures in life… 80+ degree weather and the opportunity to breathe in beautiful scenery, complete with dinosaurs!
p.s. I’m wearing a bathing suit under my dress with rosettes — reason for the lumpiness at my hips!
also was fortunate to meet the ever elusive and charming He of Fashion by He… yes, those are his hands and the only glimpse of He that will be revealed. Tess has one of the most enviable jewelry collections of anyone I know.
my mom and I share a love for fringe; wearing her vintage 80′s suede fringe vest & blouse (thanks for the new clothes, mom!)
I’ve said this a number of times and will continue to do so as long as I’m living on the left coast, but it’s always bittersweet whenever I go back east. And though I am temporarily bitter, or rather sad when I leave, I can’t complain too much when my time was pretty damn sweet. Spent most of last week in New York City for work and this weekend in New Jersey with my fam, managing to squeeze in just enough time to catch up with friends and meet a slew of people I had only known virtually… until now.
Whenever I’m fortunate to meet such incredible people (and for the record, every single person I’ve ever had the good fortune of meeting through blogging has been AMAZING), I find myself thanking the lucky stars that I had the common sense to start this personal online journey two years ago. Just thinking about all the potentially missed connections seems out of this world. But I’m a firm believer in destiny. As cheesy as that sounds, I strongly believe that certain people are meant to be in your life — whether it’s for a short or expansive time, a casual or meaningful reason.
Mel and I also got to catch up with fellow WWDMAGIC Teen Vogue bloggers Taisa of Amahzing Blog and Renee & Rebecca of Styluste ( <3 you gals ). Other sub-adventures during my short trip? Spotted Betsey Johnson (only have a distant camera phone pic — dammit); emergency landed in Pennsylvania on my way to New Jersey; ate a Shake Shack burger for the first time (trumps In-N-Out; New Yorkers, I’m jealous); visited Pixie Marketfor the first time (majorly disappointed with the store, though I still love the online shop); and spent time with my 99-year-old grams who asked us to comb her hair for photos while she laughed when we told her how pretty she looked. Love it!
Thanks again to everyone who made my short visit so very sweet. Until the next time…
Stumbled across these Rubio wedge boots while browsing Aldo and instantly fell in love. Typically, shoes are the next to last thing I decide upon when putting together a look, but these ikat print boots inspired me to create three looks around the soles.
Look #1: Weekend getaway
Pair the (unbuttoned) denim sleeveless shirt over a long-sleeve maxi dress for a weekend of wine tasting and out-of-town exploring.

Look #2: Breakfast club
Brunch it up and then head to the local flea market for some treasure hunting and haggling.

Look #3: It’s (un)complicated
When you oversleep and have ten minutes to get ready, keep it easy breezy in a simple oversized blouse and bold color pants.
Huge thank you to Audrey Magazine for featuring me in its winter issue, now on newstands. I’ve been a fan of the magazine ever since reading it in college and am thrilled about now appearing in an issue. Much love, Audrey!
Yesterday’s Holi Pop-up shopping event was a blast. Met some fabulous people including Issa from we wear things and Steph from That Girl is Hoisin. Photos to follow shortly, including ones with my newly added feather hair extensions. Yes, feathers… and yes, I’m slightly obsessed.
I say it each Monday and today’s no different. Kick Monday in the ass.

I go through phases when I’m really inspired by certain decades. It usually fluctuates between the 80′s — à la Madonna in the movie, Desparately Seeking Susan — and the 90′s — à la TV show My So-Called Life — but the faux fur sleeves of this Fleamadonna shirt makes me think I’m falling back in love with the 70′s.
Wore this to the fabulous L’Bel USA beauty event at Bardot in Hollywood last week. More to follow about L’Bel USA shortly.

I’m back. Well, no, I didn’t go anywhere; I just took one of those unannounced mini-breaks. Sometimes you need to get away, and sometimes you wonder why you stayed away for so long. (I think I just paraphrased a Carrie quote from SATC.) Picked up this silk floral dress from the Zara August collection on Saturday. It’s perfect to wear for Sunday brunch or to traverse down countless aisles at the Pasadena City College Flea Market, which I did yesterday. If you’re looking for another worthwhile LA flea market to check out, definitely head to the PCC one, held every first Sunday of each month. Um, excuse me, but where did July go? I hate when I feel as if time is just passing me by. The only plus? The notion of wearing my loose-fitting, oversized sweaters again is at the forefront of my brain as I revisit Fall RTW collections.
