Heck yes to shorts weather in January! (Los) Angelenos have been spoiled rotten with high 70′s temps this whole weekend. Having a bad hair day? What about a bad makeup day? I strongly recommend the floppy hat for these less than perfect days. It’s a sure-fire solution that will cover 85% of your face, and of course, 100% of your head.

I’m slowly turning into the cat hat lady. Over the last week, I’ve bought 7 hats and 5 in one hour. After buying one hat at Bloomingdales, I made the mistake of stopping at the mall hat stand where I got into a little bargaining ordeal. Let’s just say my experiences from bargaining in Hong Kong and Beijing surely paid off as I pulled the “I’m walking away” card when the vendor wouldn’t accept my preferred price. Works every time.

And in honor of today being Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I’ll  leave you with this:

H&M top and dress. Polo Ralph Lauren men’s hat. Forever 21 boots

This Polo Ralph Lauren men’s hat from Bloomingdales was purchased on a whim and now trumps my other much cheaper hats.  I kept saying to myself, cost per wear, cost per wear, cost per wear when looking at the price tag.

Going for a slouchy, casual look, I belted this H&M dress and threw on the sweater (also from H&M).  I wore the same dress with lace insets, shown HERE, when Mel said I reminded her of Janice from the Muppets.

A week from now I’ll be MIA since I’m going to Hong Kong!  Craziness.  Planning to take a crapload of photos, including lots of streetstyle pictures.   If you have any Hong Kong tips, please share them with me!

Couldn’t resist getting these Alexa Chung for Madewell pieces at my local Madewell.  Also tried on the Billie velvet shorts, which in theory I love, but they were a bit tight around my thigh area so I ended up passing.  Mental note:  must start doing squats and lunges again.  Having a high metabolism doesn’t automatically equal being toned.  Kept my look simple to show off the blouse but I plan to do plenty of layering with oversized blazers, boyfriend cardigans and faux fur vests.  And naturally, I had to throw on a pair of leopard print (knee-high) socks that I scrunched down.

Happy, happy, joy, joy… we’re halfway through the week!

Harem pants are not conducive to split jumps… neither is attempting a split jump when you are massively out of shape.  This is double lamesauce.

I’m crazy for prints right now, and pulled out my H&M floral pants yesterday. I’ve worn these ridiculous pants HERE but wanted to pair them with a simple cropped top.  Desperately need a new black hat since I’ve managed to wear this one all summer long, despite it being wool.  That’s the thing about living in LA… my seasons all blend together.  I never really put away any of my winter clothing because I tend to layer up at night.

My weekend was capped off with some yummy dim sum.

Ugh, I hate Mondays.  Here’s to kicking Monday in the ass.  Hard.
